A really beautiful collection of original melodies. Sweet titles, sweet pieces by William Mahan, who is an architect, painter, musician and jewelry maker. Each title reflects a type of flower in Claude Monet’s garden from an artist’s and musician’s viewpoint. Bass lines are busy but not difficult, some syncopation in a few melodies, nice harmonies and chords. There are a couple of accidentals in Spanish Red Poppies but the arranger gives ample time to flip levers.
