This lovely melody is taken from the “Winter” movement of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons concerto. The original “Largo” section is rather brief; therefore, to lengthen the melody for a more satisfying rendition, I have repeated it with variations for the instrumental soloist and a fuller harp accompaniment.
There are minimal lever or pedal changes required within each arrangement. Also, the transcribed harp part can be played on any keyboard instrument with only minor adjustments.
A separate instrumental part is provided for the flute/violin soloist. However, both musicians may play from the harp score, if preferred, since page turns have been planned accordingly.
Dynamics, fingering, and metronome markings are provided throughout as an aid to performance. However, the harper should use whichever dynamics, fingerings, and tempos suit them, no matter what this book indicates!
The total range of the harp part is only three octaves from C to C (with an optional low B note). Therefore, it can be played on a 26-string harp encompassing that range. Simply treat the C two octaves below middle C as the lowest C on your harp and adjust the octaves accordingly.
