An Eriskay Love Lilt (Fair Love of my Heart)

$5.00

An Eriskay Love Lilt is based on the Gaelic folk song, Gradh Geal Mo Cridhe (Fair Love of My Heart). Margaret Kennedy-Fraser adapted this lament, with the help of poet Allan MacDonald, and published it in 1909. It is associated with the singing of Mary MacInnes on the Isle of Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides, hence the name, An Eriskay Love Lilt. This song was made popular in modern times by the 1960’s Australian group, “The Seekers.”
