Written when Claire was only age 14, her music is well thought out and nicely organized. This, her second book, contains thoughtful melodies which show a sense of maturity. The music is sometimes modal sounding, and always expressive. Intermediate level, the left hand and right hand share the stage, and many times the left hand carries the melody or an important rhythmic portion of the music. Titles are: Nature’s Hymn, Night Crossing, Arabian Sunrise, In Silva, Flight of the Firebird, Le Souvenir, Homeward, and Travel’s End. Please click on the examples below to see actual samples of each tune. Enjoy!
We are very pleased to announce that “Travel’s End” by young Claire Pershan, has been reedited by Therese Honey. Now in its second edition, this book of lovely tunes is ready for the intermediate player. This is what Therese has to say about Claire’s book:
This book is delightful, not just because it was written by a talented and young composer, but because it fills a musical need for harp students of all ages. The compositions in “Travels End” are creative and have some unusual harmonies. Their main characteristic is the use of three-note chords and arpeggios. This is very important in the development of technique, and for those not yet ready to play full 4-note chords. Congratulations, Claire, for a job well done! Therese Honey, August 2009
