The 20 Welsh melodies in this publication were selected from various hymnals and intended for performance at church services and/or Welsh hymn-singing festivals.
These airs have been placed in progressive key order to create a satisfying “Welsh suite” that facilitates lever movements and varies the mood. Lever changes are indicated between the staves by both octave number and diamond-shaped notes while pedal changes are shown beneath the bass staff. Guitar chords are included should the harpist prefer to improvise the transcribed accompaniment of the melody.
The minimum range needed to play the enclosed arrangements as notated is 33 strings, from low C to high G.
